Last month I shot a page for Philadelphia Magazine featuring a Root Beer Float from Percy Street. Floats hold a very special place in my heart. Nearly every Friday after school my grandmother and I would go to the sweet shop by the harbor in Northport, NY and I would “get a beer”. Naturally I was thrilled to shoot this assignment.
After cranking up the AC at the studio and chilling the mugs in the freezer I was ready to go. Below is the photo running in this months issue of Philadelphia Magazine and a few snaps from Percy Street. I highly recommend going for food there. Great food, great staff and an amazing Root Beer Float!
I am now listed on wonderfulmachine.com. From their site: “Wonderful Machine is dedicated to providing commercial and editorial art buyers with quick and easy access to an eclectic mix of high-quality photographers across a broad range of specialties and locations.” It’s great to be listed amongst some of the best photographers in the world. Wonderful Machine is a great resource for art buyers and provides some fantastic services for photographers as well.
A few months ago I had the pleasure of photographing two of Chef Ormeachea’s dishes at Cafe Apamate for Clementines of Spain. The food was great as was the chef. I recommend you check it out. Enjoy the photos!
I just picked up my new portfolio after having it etched by Frank at Etched in Style. He did great work and I can’t wait to start showing it around. below is a photo.
I am happy to announce that my new portrait site is live. I will be showcasing my portraiture and lifestyle work as well as personal projects I am working on there. This site will now be strictly dedicated to food. Take a peek at kahlphoto.com
A few months ago I was asked to photograph Firecreek Restaurant’s Chef Carlo deMarco and his Steamed American White Ale Mussels for Draft Magazine. Now that the magazine has run I am able to share some photos with you all here. Enjoy!
Just a few of a pork roast with braised cabbage and apples.
This weekend I went to Winchester Va to photograph (and lend a hand a little) to Derek and Amanda at a Food Bank Drive. The market managed to collect a whole lot of canned goods and the Local Six Forty Seven food cart managed to raise a pretty nice amount of money. Hopefully it will make this winter and upcoming holiday season a little easier on some of the less fortunate.
Below are the photos.
I have been hearing about this wonderful, vegan, macrobiotic chef for a few years from my friend Julie. “You need to see this stuff…you need to taste this stuff….come over, cook, eat with us”, she would say. Well last week I finally met up with Marilyn Moser – Waxman of The Nourishing Well to photograph and eat some of her vegan fare. First, let me say this: if there had been animal free food that was this tasty and well executed I may very well have stayed a vegetarian. Second, allow me to say this: this food makes you feel GOOD. Third, I can not believe it took me this long to check it out. The tempe rueben sandwich you see here was very very good. Aside from the great food, Marilyn was a fantastic host and we had a blast. Enough of all that. Enjoy the pictures!
Yes. That is Vegan Pumpkin pie and yes, it was amazing.
Please enjoy a beautiful sunset on this lovely morning. Taken at Ft. Zachary Taylor Park.
